FAQ -Frequently Asked Questions What is the process to get work performed? Simply scan the photos at 300 dpi (dots per inch) at 100% size. Scan in RGB color mode (even if it's black and white) with no scanner enhancements turned on and save as a 'high' quality JPEG. Attach the digital version of your photo in an e-mail and send it to me with a description of what you would like done with the photo. I will assign each photo the level of restoration to one of the 4 levels of of work. I will then give you back a quote. If you are satisfied with the quote, then you can contact me and work out the details. Once the photo is complete and payment arrangements have been made, I will send out the finished photo in the medium (e-mail, CD and/or prints) that you request. Are quotes free of charge? Yes. We evaluate each photo that you submit and classify it into one of the four "Levels" of restoration. We notify you of the quote and there are no charges incurred. You must then make arrangements for payment and then work will proceed. How do I scan my photos? You must scan your photos onto your hard drive or onto a disk using a scanner. You can also download pictures from your digital camera to your computer and send them to me. What if I don't have a scanner? You can take your photo to a copy center or photo lab and have them scan it for you. Make sure that they scan the photos at 300 dpi (dots per inch) at 100% size. Save to disk and then upload the photo from the disk to submit it to us. Does it have to be a scanned photo? No. Any digital format picture will be fine as long as you own or have copyright privileges. So the photos could be from your own camera or scanned from your family photo archive. Can I send the photos to you and you scan them for me? Yes. But, shipping can be risky due to damage or loss. But you can minimize the risk by using a quality shipper (UPS, FEDEX or USPS) and by packaging the material properly. A good way to package photographs is to put them between sheets of cardboard, taped shut and then placed inside a good outer package. We will not accept any package that appears to be damaged. this insures that WE did not damage the material. Once we receive them, we will scan them and send you a quote for the work to be performed. A small scanning fee ($4.00 per photo) will be included in the quote. If you do not accept the quote, then the material will be sent back to you after YOU have covered the shipping expenses. If work is performed, then the return shipping will be covered by GoGellar. What is copyright and how will that effect me getting work performed? Copyright laws are simple. If you took the picture, you own the rights to change, manipulate or copy. If someone else took them, you need to obtain permission from that person or company to change, manipulate or copy.
